I would have to say that my love of animals started from childhood.  For as long as I can remember, I have always had animals.

My involvement in the sport of Showing and Breeding dogs began quite by accident. Early retirement, the loss of a beloved pet, a move to the ideal location and my first computer was the PERFECT STORM from which my newfound passion was formed. I was certain the right breed for me was out there ..

After much research I finally decided upon the Bichon Frise. They were small enough to go in the car on road trips, they were bred to be companions and they were described as a hardy animal. That word "hardy" really resonated with me, I lived in Lake Tahoe at the time and the weather was harsh, so I needed an animal that could handle indoor and outdoor life.  The fact that they do not shed was icing on the cake.

Through my research I found a breeder that really impressed me.  Not only did I interview her, she interviewed me!  It made me recognize the effort and dedication that responsible breeders put into each litter that was born.

From that first day in 1996, my education began about the world of dog sports.  I immersed myself in all there was to learn about dog showing and breeding.  When I began I was surprised there were so many layers to this all.  Even today, I learn something new almost daily.  I have come to realize that showing and breeding purebred dogs is an art and not something to enter into lightly.

While I love every aspect and understand it's importance, for me personally,I find that education is most important.  Learning about nutrition, the dangers of over vaccinating, natural rearing, temperament and the over all well-being of the animals I breed, has become paramount in my breeding program.

We have bred numerous Champions, Best In Show Winners and National Specialty Winners. Most importantly our dogs are loving, healthy, family companions first and foremost.  We are proud of each and every dog that carries the Chenoa name.
